  • Both Taylor Burk & Olivia Van Dyke will be guiding participants throughout this workshop.   • This workshop is catered to photographers with varying goals, experience levels and aspirations. Whether you find your camera collecting dust, you’re longing for more shooting opportunities, you want to grow your portfolio, or just simply seeking an excuse to try a new style and meet new people, we offer the perfect solution.

    Everyone benefits from a room full of talented creatives, bouncing ideas off one another. Limiting this to 10 people creates a more intimate learning environment, allowing for one-on-one time with each guest.

  • Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm & Dinner at 6pm / January 13th 2024

    The day will commence with a welcome gathering at La Arca Studio. From there, we will take part in a series of portraiture sessions, where you will have the opportunity to shoot with professional models, Talaysay & Alain, as well as collaborate with a makeup artist. Additionally, we will delve into the realm of still life photography, honing your skills in capturing the intricate details and unique beauty found in ordinary objects. After we are done shooting we will dive into post-processing, and the back end of running a photography business.

    To wrap up the day we will have a family style dinner consisting of a healthy and hearty catered meal by the very talented Meesh Coles, fostering connections and conversations over delicious food.

    About La Arca Studio:

    “This beautiful heritage space, built in 1910 is comprised of, one large space with an arched walkway, and a separate room perfect for make up and wardrobe. Still with original wood window frames and doors, and thoughtfully curated vintage pieces, it is the perfect combination of old world character and modern minimalism.”

  • Time: 11:00am - 5:00pm / January 14th 2024

    We'll kick off the day by meeting at La Arca Studio. From there we will embark on a 90min excursion in Stanley Park with Talaysay Tours. On this nature walking tour you will hear the stories of how shíshálh (Sechelt) Coast Salish & Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) People have been utilizing the land for food, medicine and technology for thousands of years. Our cultural guide will share ecological practices, ancient and contemporary history, stories, legends and more with us.

    Afterwards we will head out on a scenic photowalk for sunset (location will be based upon on weather and conditions) searching for inspiration along the way. There will be challenges assigned to help get the creative juices flowing. We will be focusing on the use of different photo techniques like multiple exposures & slow shutter and how to make the most of the conditions we are presented. The focus will be on the little details as well as the bigger picture, how to connect the two and tell a story with your photography. This day will be landscape photography focused but there will be models available to step in when necessary. After sunset, we'll return to the studio to warm up with a hot beverage, marking the end of our experience.

We are active participants of the Indigenous tourism and education sector. Our goal is to capacity build the next generation in business, tourism and education employment while supporting culture revitalization, land-based education and reclamation.”

  • -Travel costs to Vancouver as well as accommodations are the responsibility of the participant. (We will be starting on the morning of the 13th and plan to finish late afternoon on 14th. We recommend that you arrive a day early if you’re travelling to Vancouver from abroad.)
